angel theology

lets explore the bible behind The angels and devils in my stories

The Bible talks about angels and devils throughout, but the scriptures don't get into the hierarchy of these celestial beings...if it even exists. Presumably, when there are scriptures referring to specific angelic beings, there are corresponding evil versions. So, when we read about cherub(im)s in Eden (Gen 3:24), there should be devilish equivalents. Right? Same with seraphims (Isa 6:2, 6). However, there isn't an indication of hierarchy between these two angelic beings.

In Daniel, there is an indication of territories for angels and devils. Dan 10:13 talks about the "Prince of Persia" resisting the (arch?)angel Gabriel, and Michael the archangel is the "chief Prince." A "prince" would seem to over a particular country.

Since there wasn't a clear hierarchy for either side, but there does appear to be territories, I decided to create a clear hierarchy for the devilish side with territory as the basis. On the angelic side, the same territories exist, but I don't get into the equivalent angelic beings facing the devils.

Below are the characters as described in my stories...

Angel Theology - hashomers

HASHOMERS

Hashomer is a Hebrew word which is loosely translated to guardian. The concept of a "guardian angel" is based on Matthew 4:6 and Psalms 91:11. I have them as the lowest form of angel. They usually take the form of a little boy, but I decided there will be little girl versions as well. Hashomers will guard children and people who are seeking God or are close to Christians (spouse, fiance, family, etc).

They will protect children when they put themselves into dangerous situations. Adults are another matter. When called upon through prayer, they will defend their person as best they can. However, they are the weakest of the angels, so that defense may come at a cost.

Angel Theology - Abirs

ABIRS

Abir is a Hebrew word which is loosely translated to knight. When you think of any angel, these abirs are what you usually envision. Big, powerful, and armored. They are shapeshifters (based on Heb 31:2) and will transform into something akin to the person they protect. Who do they protect? Christians.

When called upon through prayer, they will defend their person against many devils and come through triumphant.

Angel Theology - the nameless

THE NAMELESS

There is no Bible for the Nameless. In my world, these are the lowest form of devil responsible for the many tempting thoughts people have. They flit about, waiting for the opportune moment to sneak their diabolical whispers into your ears. Each one specializes in a particular temptation. Deception, murder, concupiscence, confusion doubt, hatred, revenge, lust anger, frustration, pride, envy and vanity are just the tip of the iceberg of the types of temptation these creatures can dish out.

Some people will have these Nameless attached to them, or even inside them. These people have become corrupt to the point they enjoy these creatures around. If enough attach, the person could become a Reprobate (Rom 1:28, 2 Tim 3:8, Titus 1:16) or a Legion (Matt 8:28-33).

COYOTE (THE LORDS)

Again, there is no Bible for this level of devilish hierarchy. In my world, these "lords" watch over the Nameless within their jurisdiction. In this case, they are over a population area, such as a city or county or collection of counties, depending on the population density.

Coyote is over the greater Las Vegas area in Nevada.

ATASAYA (THE PRINCES)

There is a little Bible for the "princes." In Daniel 10. The (arch)angel Gabriel told how he was resisted by the prince of Persia and Michael, one of the chief princes helped him.  The "prince of Persia" would have to mean a devil higher up on the food chain. And, since there are "chief princes," there is someone higher than a prince.

This "prince" would appear to be over a country, or larger population center. Atasaya is over the four corners area of southwest US (CO, UT, NM and AZ) along with Nevada.

IKTOMI (THE DUKES)

Depending on which country's hierarchy you research, a "duke" is lower than a "prince." However, there are a few where "duke" is above a "prince." I'm going with this version and sticking to it.

Be that as it may, a "duke" is mentioned in the Bible in Genesis and Chronicles, mainly. They appear to be sons of a specific person.

From a devilish hierarchy, these "dukes" rule over a greater populate than the "princes." Iktomi is over the continental United States.

MAMMON (THE ARCHDUKES)

There is zero Bible for "archdukes" as a hierarchy to devils. However, there is Bible for the "gods" of other countries in the Old Testament. There is Baal, Asherah, Moloch, Dagon, Ashtoreth and Chemosh. Then you have named devils over the seven deadly sins: Mammon (greed), Asmodeus (lust), Leviathan (envy), Beelzebub (gluttony), Belphegor (sloth), Aamon (wrath) and Lucifer (pride).

As you can see by the title of this section, I'm considering the beings representing the seven deadly sins as the archdukes of my stories. They are over the continental regions of the world. Mammon is over North America.
