Obligatory Post About Cats

January 31st

Okay, so I suppose it really isn’t obligatory, but I haven’t talked about my cats at all so far. I have two, a black cat named Percival and a calico named Cali. I love them both dearly…even though they can drive me crazy. But, hey, that’s the life of a cat owner—er, servant.

Percival chose me at the Genesee County Humane Society. I hadn’t spotted Percy, yet. A pretty little female tabby caught my attention first. I don’t know her story, but the couple scars on her face and ear told me her life had been rough. In our “get to know you” meet, she crawled into my lap and soaked up all the attention she could.

My sister came with me to just watch, and she spotted this black cat in a lower cage. When she tapped on the door, he came up to her and nuzzled her finger. She watched others go to his cage and he didn’t greet anyone else. He chose her, so she let me know about him. I met with him and it went great. The problem came when the two met. She didn’t want anything to do with him, but I decided to adopt both anyway. I figured they just needed some time to adjust to each other.

Well, that did not go as planned. I gave her, Gwenivere, two to three weeks to get used to Percival around the house. She would crawl into my lap and purr away. Whenever Percy came around, it was claws out, hisses and she even attacked him a couple times. When Percy started to defend himself, that told me this wasn’t going to work out. Gwen needed to be in a one-cat household and, unfortunately, that wasn’t going to be mine. It tore me apart, but I had to take her back.

Cali turned up in my garage during the early days of the pandemic. Yes, she just showed up in my closed up and locked garage. She managed to crawl under one edge of the garage door which wasn’t firm to the ground. She had maybe three inches clearance. A sweet little kitty, about six months old, I fell for her quickly. However, I did my due diligence and tried to find the family she belonged to. After all, she had a red collar on. Nobody nearby claimed her and she wasn’t chipped, so I kept her. She wasn’t even fixed yet, which was probably how she got lost from her family. She came into heat and ran off. Fortunately, she didn’t get pregnant.

Now, these two furballs have me wrapped around their paws. Yes, they are spoiled rotten. I wouldn’t have it any other way. They do tend to get in the way when I’m trying to work in my office. They will sit on my laptop and stare until they get what they want. I usually capitulate.

That’s it for this month. May God bless you in your endeavors!

What else is going on?

I decided to purchase a better cover for The Accident! I bought it from GetCovers.com and they completed it this past week. Here’s a sneak peek below. In conjunction with this, I have new ads ready for Facebook and Instagram which will include the new cover. I’ve posted the ads on my Facebook account.

I’m also working on automating posts for Facebook and Instagram. The Instagram posts on Monday/Wednesday/Friday are automated today.  I’m expanding on it to post something everyday except for Mondays when I’ll post something “live.” Sundays will have a Bible quote for inspiration. Tuesdays will have Bible quotes about writing. Wednesday will have video shorts or Reels. Thursday will have images of The Accident in people’s hands (AI generated). Friday will have the author quotes and I hope to have Christian author’s quotes added to the mix. Saturday will be character quotes from The Accident with AI concept artwork for the character. Once in place, they will run automatically and periodically. I’ll add more posts or change the concept for the day.

Writing Progress Report

Canthany: Genesis is slowly progressing. The first chapter required many rewrites to make it streamlined and fast. My usual issue with over-describing slowed down the narrative again. I think I’ve got it moving now. The second chapter is with the critique partners on ACFW’s Scribes. Chapter three is in the works. At this point, I’m expecting six or seven chapters to complete the story. However, the characters may go off script. You never know…

God Bless you all!
